Fun for a Change is a social innovation challengethat encourages university students to come up with fun solutions in order to create positive change. Participating teams will be thinking outside the box and rethinking how we can change the world by influencing human behavior through the incorporation of game dynamics. Some notable examples of these fun solutions include Piano Stairs, Speed Camera Lottery and Bottle Bank Arcade. Ultimately, the goal of all teams is to come up with a solution that can get the community to “do the right thing” because it is fun to do so!

The competition begins by combining students into teams from different faculties and backgrounds.  Afterwards, teams are given a theme (based on the needs of a specific region) in which their fun solutions will revolve around. This year, the competition will consist of the “concept phase” and an “implementation phase”. Throughout the process, participants go through a series of workshops that will provide the necessary skills and help with idea creation.

As a grand finale, teams will pitch their project (with a presentation video) to a panel of judges on competition day and be judged based on a number of factors including creativity, and how well it addresses the needs of the community.
